GSM modem

Okay kiddo, have you ever sent a text message? If yes, then you must know that your phone needs a SIM card to do that. A GSM modem is kind of like a phone that doesn't have a screen or a battery, but it still has a SIM card in it so it can send messages and make calls. It is a device that can connect to the internet wirelessly, just like how your phone has Wi-Fi. But instead of using Wi-Fi, it uses something called a cellular network.

You know how your phone has bars that show how strong the signal is? A GSM modem also uses this signal to connect to the network. It can connect to different networks like AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon.

The modem can be connected to a computer or another device like a Raspberry Pi, and it becomes a way for that device to also connect to the internet via the modem's cellular connection. It's like plugging a phone into a computer to use its internet connection.

So, in simple terms, a GSM modem is a device that connects to the internet using a SIM card so other devices can also use its internet connection. It's kind of like a phone, but without a screen or a battery.
