ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gaijin

Okay, so imagine you are playing with your friends and a new kid comes to join you. This new kid is different from you and your friends, maybe they speak a different language or have a different skin color. In Japan, people who are not from Japan are often called "gaijin" which means "outsider" or "foreigner". It's important to remember that even though someone may look or speak differently, they are still people just like you and should be treated with kindness and respect.
