Gap year

A gap year is when someone takes a break from school or work for a little while to do something else. Kind of like taking a break from eating your dinner to go play outside for a bit before finishing your meal.

During a gap year, people can do lots of different things like travel, work or volunteer somewhere new, learn a skill, or just take some time to figure out what they really want to do next. It's like hitting the pause button on one part of your life so you can explore other things for a bit, then come back to it later refreshed and ready to go.
