Gatehouse

Okay, so do you know what a house is? It's a place where people live, right? Well, a gatehouse is like a special kind of house that's usually located right at the entrance of something.

Imagine you have a really big castle, like a princess castle, and you want to make sure only the right people can come in. You don't want any monsters or bad guys getting in there, right? So, you build a gatehouse right at the entrance of the castle.

The gatehouse is kind of like a little station, where people have to stop and talk to the gatekeeper before they can come inside. It's like a checkpoint, to make sure everyone is safe and friendly. The gatekeeper might ask for a secret password or code, or maybe they'll just check to make sure everyone is supposed to be there.

So the gatehouse is like the castle's first line of defense. It keeps everyone safe and makes sure only the right people can come in. Cool, right?
