ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gaudapada

Okay, kiddo. Gaudapada was a very wise man from a long, long time ago in India. He was like a teacher who wanted to help people find happiness, but not just any kind of happiness - he wanted people to find happiness that lasts forever.

Gaudapada studied ancient teachings called the Upanishads, which are like big books that talk about important questions like "what is the meaning of life?" One of the things he learned and wanted to share with others is that everything we see and feel and hear and touch is not really real. It's like a dream - something we imagine in our minds, but it's not actually there.

Another thing Gaudapada taught is that we all have a true self inside us that is always happy and always at peace. This true self is like a light that is always shining, even if we can't see it because we are confused or upset. He taught that if we can learn to focus on this light inside us, we can find true happiness that lasts forever.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
