ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gaza–Israel conflict

Okay kiddo, there's a place called Gaza that's a small strip of land on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It's ruled by a group called Hamas that some people don't really like.

Right next to Gaza is a country called Israel. Some people who live there don't like Hamas because they think it's a terrorist group. They also don't like the fact that all the time, people in Gaza sometimes try to launch rockets into their country.

So sometimes, the people in Israel try to stop those rockets and they do it by attacking the people in Gaza. That makes the people in Gaza really angry and upset.

Then after a few days or weeks, they stop fighting and take a break. But then, it starts all over again. It's like a never-ending cycle of fighting between Israel and Gaza.

It's not good when people fight and get hurt, so it's important for everyone to try and find a way to make peace and get along.
