ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Generalized lifting

Generalized lifting is a way of using numbers and mathematics to solve problems. When you have a problem that needs solving, the goal is to figure out a way to use the numbers and equations to get an answer. To do this, you look at all the numbers involved in the problem and then set up equations that can be solved to get the answer. The process of setting up equations and solving them is called generalized lifting.
