ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Genetic representation

Genetic representation is the way in which living things pass down their characteristics from parents to their offspring. All living things have genetic material (also known as DNA) that determines what features or traits are passed down. When parents have a baby, the baby inherits half of its DNA from each parent. These pieces of DNA from both parents might have similar or different genes which can result in different traits in the child. When this happens, it is called genetic representation.
