Genes are like the instructions inside your body that tell it how to look and act. We all have lots of different genes, and they all come in different versions called genotypes. Genotypes tell your body how to do different things. For example, some genes might tell your eyes what color they should be, while others might tell your body how tall you should be. Whenever you have two different versions of a gene, it's called a genotype. To help you understand, think of it like a recipe – you have different ingredients that are combined to make something. In this case, the ingredients are different gene versions and the result is your genotype.
