Genus (music)

Genus is a special word that music people use to describe different types of music. Imagine you have a lot of toys like dolls, cars, blocks, and balls. Each toy is different, right? So, each toy is like a different type of music, and the word genus helps us talk about these different types.

For example, classical music is one type of genus that has been around for a long time, and it sounds very formal and fancy. It often has violins, cellos, and pianos playing together. Another type of genus is rock music. This type of music is much louder and usually played with electric guitars and drums. It makes people want to dance or jump around.

So, whenever we talk about different types of music, we can use the word genus to describe them. It's like putting all the different toys in their own special boxes, so they're easy to find and play with when we want to have fun.
