Okay, kiddo, let's talk about geography and specifically about the island of Bonaire. Bonaire is a small island located in the Caribbean Sea, near the coast of Venezuela. It's a very special place because it's part of the Netherlands, which is very far away from the Caribbean!
Bonaire is a very flat island, which means there are no big hills or mountains. There is one really big hill called Brandaris, but we will get to that later. The island is made of coral reefs, which is like a hard skeleton that the animals in the ocean leave behind. This makes the coastline of Bonaire very rocky and interesting to explore. The interior of the island is mostly covered by a type of desert called a cactus scrubland. That means it's very dry and there are many cactus plants that live there.
Now back to that big hill, Brandaris. It's the highest point of the island and it's 784 feet tall. That's almost as tall as two and a half Eiffel Towers stacked on top of each other! You can hike up Brandaris and at the top, you will see a lot of the island. You'll see the salt pans, which are where people collect salt from the ocean, and you'll see the big blue sea in the distance.
Speaking of the sea, there is a really big national park that is underwater. It's called the Bonaire National Marine Park and it's where all the fish and coral live. This is also a place where people like to go scuba diving or snorkeling to see all the cool sea creatures.
So to sum it up, Bonaire is a small, flat island in the Caribbean Sea with a rocky coastline and cactus scrubland. It has a big hill called Brandaris and a national marine park with lots of cool sea creatures.
