Manual transmission is a type of car that uses gears to move the car forwards and backwards. To move the car forward, you have to press the gas pedal down, and then press down the clutch pedal with your left foot. The clutch pedal is like a switch: when it is pressed down, it disconnects the engine from the rest of the car. With your right hand, you have to shift the gear stick into the right gear. When you release the clutch pedal, it reconnects the engine to the car and the car will move forward. Changing gears is necessary when the car needs more or less power to move faster or slower.
