Geography of Ontario

Ontario is a big place in the country of Canada. It's so big that it's actually the second largest province in the whole country! Ontario is home to many different kinds of land and water, and because of this, it has a lot of different parts to it.

To start with, let's think about the land in Ontario. There are lots of rocks and minerals buried underground, which people like to find and take out of the earth (that's called mining). Ontario also has lots of forests, which are full of trees and animals like bears, birds, and deer. And there are big hills and mountains in some parts of Ontario too, like the Canadian Shield or the Niagara Escarpment.

Now onto the water! Ontario is surrounded by water on three sides, which means it's a great place to find lakes and rivers. One of the most famous lakes is Lake Ontario, which is really big and sits right next to cities like Toronto and Kingston. Other big lakes include Lake Superior, Lake Erie, and Lake Huron. There are also many rivers in Ontario, like the Ottawa River or the St. Lawrence River, which flow through the province and help connect different parts of Canada and the United States.

Ontario has many different kinds of people living in it too, from big cities like Toronto and Ottawa to small towns and rural areas. People from different cultures and backgrounds make up Ontario's population, which means you can find all kinds of food, music, and celebrations throughout the province.
