Microplastics are very small pieces of plastic. They look like little pieces of confetti or glitter. They can be really really tiny, like almost too small to see. They usually come from things like plastic bottles and bags that have been broken into smaller and smaller pieces over time. Microplastics can be very harmful to animals and the environment, because animals can eat them and get sick.
