Microbead (research)

Microbeads are tiny pieces of plastic that are added to certain products like face wash or toothpaste. They are too small to be caught by filters, so when you wash them off your face or down the sink, they end up in the ocean. This can be very bad for fish and other sea creatures, because they can eat the microbeads and get sick. That's why scientists are doing a lot of research on microbeads and trying to come up with better ways to make face wash and toothpaste without using them.
