Monarchy is a system of government where one person, usually called the king, queen, or emperor, rules a country. This person usually has a long family line who have ruled the country for hundreds of years. The person who is currently the monarch usually has a lot of power, like being able to make laws and appoint people. They are usually seen as a symbol of the country and are respected by the people.
