Plastic pollution in the Mediterranean sea

Ok, so you know that when you go to the beach, you sometimes see trash like empty water bottles or candy wrappers? Well, imagine if there was a LOT more trash in the water and on the beach. That's what happened in the Mediterranean Sea.

Plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea means that there is too much plastic in the water. This is very bad because the plastic doesn't just disappear. It stays in the water and can hurt the fish and other animals that live in the water.

Sometimes, the plastic breaks into small pieces called microplastics. These are so small that you can't see them with your eyes, but they can still be very dangerous to animals that eat them.

There are many reasons why there is so much plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea. People sometimes don't throw their trash away properly, and it ends up in the water. Also, big ships that travel through the Mediterranean can accidentally drop trash in the water, too.

But, there are things we can do to help stop plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea. We can make sure to throw our trash away properly and recycle when we can. We can also tell other people about plastic pollution and encourage them to help keep our oceans clean.
