ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Geoheritage

Geoheritage is all about the story of the Earth and how it has changed over billions and billions of years. Just like you have a story, so does the Earth! It's like a big history book that tells us about the different types of rocks, minerals, fossils, and landforms that we can find all around us.

Think of a fossil as a clue or a puzzle piece that helps us understand what life was like a long time ago. Some rocks can tell us about past volcanic eruptions or even ancient glaciers. We can learn about how the continents were formed, how mountains were created, and why waterfalls exist. It's like a treasure hunt to learn more about the amazing things that happened in the past.

Geoheritage is a way to help us appreciate and protect all of these amazing things that we can find on the Earth's surface. Just like we preserve important historical sites or buildings, we can also preserve important geological sites that tell us about the Earth's past. This helps us to learn more about the world we live in and the amazing things that happened before we were even born!
