Geologic modelling

Geologic modelling is like making a big puzzle. You know that the Earth has different layers under the ground, like soil, rocks, and minerals. Geologists explore and study these layers by digging and drilling into the ground. They find out what the layers are made of and how they fit together.

Geologic modelling is like taking all that information and putting it together so we can see what it looks like underground. It's like building a model of what the Earth's layers would look like if we could see through the ground. We use computers to make this model.

Geologists make a 3D picture of the layers, which helps us understand how the rocks and minerals are distributed in the Earth's crust. This information can help us find resources like oil, gas, and minerals.

Geologic modelling is used for lots of things, like predicting natural disasters such as earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, or planning for the construction of infrastructure like roads or buildings. By understanding the Earth's underground layers, we can make better decisions about how to use the resources and keep ourselves safe.
