German language in Namibia

Did you know that in the country of Namibia, which is in Africa, some people speak a language called German?

A long time ago, Namibia was a colony (a place ruled by another country) of Germany. This means that the German people came to Namibia and brought their language with them.

Even though Namibia is no longer a colony of Germany, some people still speak German there because they learned it from their ancestors who were German or they learned it in school.

German is not the main language spoken in Namibia though. Most people speak a language called Oshiwambo, and there are many other languages spoken too.

It's pretty cool that even though Namibia is so far away from Germany, people there still speak German because of the country's history.
