Get (divorce document)

Sometimes, when grown-ups get married, they make a promise to love and take care of each other forever. But sometimes, things happen and they might not be able to keep that promise anymore. When that happens, they might decide that they don't want to be married anymore and they might get something called a divorce.

A divorce is like a special paper that says that the grown-ups are not married anymore. They have to go to a special grown-up court and tell a grown-up judge why they want to get divorced. The judge will listen carefully and if everything is okay, the judge will say it's okay for the grown-ups to get divorced.

Once the judge says it's okay to get divorced, the grown-ups will get a special paper called a divorce document. This is like a really important grown-up paper because it proves that they are not married anymore. The divorce document might have some important information on it like who gets to keep certain things or who will take care of the kids if there are any.

So getting a divorce document is kind of like saying goodbye to being married and starting a new chapter in life.
