The Gettysburg Address was a speech given by President Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War in 1863. Lincoln was asking the people of the United States to remember the soldiers who had died in the war. He also wanted everyone to work together to make sure that the United States stayed a free country. In the speech, he talks about how all people are created equal and must be treated with respect. He finishes the speech by saying that our nation should continue to try and make the world a better place.
