Ghanaian pound

Okay kiddo, back in the old days before you were born, Ghana had its own currency called the Ghanaian pound. Just like how you have money in your piggy bank, adults in Ghana used to have money in their wallets and purses. But instead of dollars, like we have in the US, they used Ghanaian pounds.

The Ghanaian pound was made up of different coins and paper bills. Just like how you have different values of coins like pennies and quarters, the Ghanaian pound had smaller coins like the 1 penny and bigger coins like the 1 pound. There were also paper bills with different values like the 10 pounds and the 50 pounds.

But eventually, Ghana started to use a different currency called the cedi, which made the Ghanaian pound go away. People now use cedi instead of the Ghanaian pound.

So while the Ghanaian pound isn't used anymore, it was an important part of Ghana's history as their own currency.
