ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gheg Albanian

Okay kiddo, let's talk about Gheg Albanian! Gheg Albanian is a language that some people in the northern part of Albania speak.

Just like how we speak English, some people in Albania speak Gheg Albanian with their family and friends. It can be hard for people who only speak English to understand Gheg Albanian because the words and letters are different.

But don't worry, I'll explain it to you! Gheg Albanian has a different alphabet than the one we use in English. They use letters like "ç," "ë," and "sh" that we don't use in English.

Also, some words in Gheg Albanian are different from the words we use in English. For example, the word for "hello" in Gheg Albanian is "ç'kemi" which sounds very different from the word "hello."

But it's important to know that even though the language is different, the people who speak it are still the same as us! They have families, they love to have fun, and they laugh and smile just like we do.

So, even though we might not always understand each other's languages, we can still be friends and get to know each other!
