ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ghosts (physics)

Oh, hi there! So, you know how sometimes people say they've seen ghosts or felt like there was something spooky around them? Well, some scientists like to use physics to try and explain what might be behind those feelings and experiences.

So, physics is basically the study of how things around us (like the world we live in and everything in it) work. And one thing that physics tells us is that everything in the world is made up of tiny particles called atoms. These atoms are always moving around and bumping into each other, even when we can't see them.

Now, sometimes when things are moving around really fast, they can create energy. And this energy might be what some people think of as "ghosts." You see, when we die, our bodies stop moving and creating energy, but some people believe that our energy might still be around in some way. And that energy could be picked up by certain individuals or devices, making them feel or "see" something that's not really there.

But there's still a lot we don't know about ghosts and energy and whether they're even real or not. That's why some scientists are still trying to study this using physics and other techniques, so we can learn more about what might be going on when people have these spooky experiences.
