Ghosts in Mesopotamian religions

Okay, little buddy! So, some people who lived a long, long time ago in a place called Mesopotamia believed in something called "ghosts." A ghost is like a spooky spirit that people think might still be around even after someone has died.

Now, the Mesopotamians believed that these ghosts were kind of like regular people, except they didn't have a body anymore. They thought that when someone died, their ghost could stick around and haunt the living.

But, the Mesopotamians also believed that ghosts were very powerful and could actually do things to help or harm people. They thought that if they worshipped the ghosts and did rituals for them, the ghosts would be nice to them. But if they didn't do what the ghosts wanted, the ghosts might get angry and cause trouble.

Overall, the Mesopotamians believed that ghosts were real and could affect their lives, so they wanted to keep them happy by doing special things for them.
