ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gift card

Imagine if you had a special card that could magically let you buy anything you want from a particular store, like a toy store or a bookstore. That's called a gift card. The card has a special code that is worth a certain amount of money that you can use to buy things from that store. It's like someone giving you money to spend at that store, but in a special card that you can keep in your pocket or wallet. When you go to checkout, instead of paying with cash or a credit card, you can give the cashier your gift card and the amount of your purchase gets deducted from the total amount of money on the card. So, you don't have to worry about carrying cash or borrowing money from your parents because you have your own special card to buy the things you want.
