Giovanni Fontana (engineer)

Giovanni Fontana was a man who lived a long time ago and was very interested in machines and making things work. He was what we call an engineer. He lived in a place called Italy, which is far away from where we live now.

When Giovanni was alive, people did not have many machines to do work for them like we do now. They had to use their hands and bodies to do things like grind grain and move heavy objects. Giovanni wanted to make things easier for people, so he worked very hard to come up with new machines that could do these things for them.

One of the things that Giovanni is most famous for is his invention of a machine called a water clock. This machine used the movement of water to keep track of time. Another invention of his was a machine that could grind up grain into flour faster than people could do it by hand. Giovanni's ideas and inventions helped make life easier for people long ago and helped pave the way for the machines we use today.
