Girth (geometry)

Girth is a measure of how fat around a shape or object is. Imagine you have a round cake. The girth would be how long you would need to wrap a piece of string around the cake to cover the whole edge of the cake. The more the cake sticks out, the longer the string you will need.

In math, the girth of a shape is also called the circumference. It's like measuring the distance around the outside of a circle or a round object. You can measure the girth of other shapes too, like rectangles or squares, by measuring the distance around their edges.

Girth is an important measurement because it helps us to figure out things like how much fabric we would need to make a skirt or how much rope we need to tie around a tree. It also helps us to understand the sizes and shapes of objects in the world around us.
