Global Network Initiative

The Global Network Initiative (GNI) is a group of companies, civil society groups, academics, and investors that work together to help protect human rights in places where the internet and other technologies are used. GNI helps companies figure out the best ways to keep their products and services free and safe for all people, regardless of where they live. They look at things like freedom of expression and privacy, and they develop standards and practices so that companies can make sure they’re respecting human rights around the world. Companies that join GNI have to agree to comply with their standards, and if they don’t, they are held accountable and don’t get to be part of the organization any longer.
