ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Global language system

Imagine there are many different people in the world, who all speak different languages. For example, some people speak English, others speak Spanish, French, Mandarin, and so on. This can sometimes make it difficult for people to communicate with each other.

To make it easier for everyone to communicate, some people have suggested that we all use one language that everyone understands. This would be called a global language system.

Think of it like playing a game with your friends - if everyone knows the rules and speaks the same language, then it is easier to play and have fun together. The same thing applies to talking with people from different countries - if we all speak the same language, we can understand each other better and work together more easily.

However, choosing what the global language system should be is a bit complicated. Different people have different preferences, and some people feel very strongly about their language and culture. Some people think it should be English because it is already widely spoken around the world, and others think it should be a newer language that is easy to learn.

In the end, it is up to everyone to decide what they think is best for the world. But having a global language system could definitely make the world a more connected and harmonious place to live.
