Linguistic imperialism

Linguistic imperialism is when a powerful country or group of people forces a language on another country or group of people. For example, if a country with a lot of money and power forces the people of another country to learn the powerful country's language and ignore the language of their own, that's called linguistic imperialism. In essence, the powerful country is using its language to take control of another country and its people.
