Global workspace theory is a way of thinking about how the brain works. It suggests that when we pay attention to something, our brains work together to make sense of it. Our brains combine different pieces of information from different parts of the brain and put them all together in one place. That special place is called a "global workspace". This global workspace is like a mental stage where all of the parts of the brain can come together to create a story or an explanation for whatever it is that we are paying attention to.
