Okay kiddo, so there is a place called Goa in India and there were some people there called Goan Catholics. They believed in Jesus and lived like Catholics, which means they had their own churches and priests.
Now, a long time ago, the British people from England came to India and took control of Goa. They wanted to make Goa a part of their empire. So, the Goan Catholics were now living under the British Indian Empire.
This was not easy for them because the British people had different language, culture and beliefs. So, the Goan Catholics had to follow the British rules and laws. They also had to learn English because it was the language used by the British.
But, the Goan Catholics did not forget their own culture and traditions. They continued to practice their Catholic religion and even built more churches.
The British people wanted the Goan Catholics to work for them and help them make money. So, they started giving jobs to the Goan Catholics. Some worked in the army, some in the government and some in the shops.
As time went by, the Goan Catholics started adopting some of the British ways of living. They started wearing western clothes and eating different foods.
But, they also kept their own Goan Catholic traditions alive. They continued to celebrate their festivals and eat their own traditional foods.
And that's how Goan Catholics lived under the British Indian Empire, kiddo.
