Hey kiddo! Have you ever heard of gold panning? It's a way of looking for tiny pieces of gold in a river or stream by using a special pan.
First, you have to find a spot where people think there might be gold in the water. Then you use your pan to collect some of the sand and dirt from the riverbed. You want to get enough sand to fill your pan but not too much that it overflows.
Next, you dip your pan into the water and swirl it around. The water washes away the lighter sand and dirt but the heavier gold sinks to the bottom of the pan. You have to be patient and keep swirling until you see some shiny specks at the bottom.
Once you find some gold, you carefully lift the pan out of the water and tilt it to pour out the sand and dirt. You don't want to lose any of the gold so you have to be really careful.
Finally, you rinse the pan with water and repeat the process again and again until the day is over.
Gold panning can be hard work but it's also really exciting because you never know if you'll find a big piece of gold or just a bunch of little ones. It's a fun way to spend a day outside with your family or friends!
