Gold prospecting

Have you ever seen people searching for gold using pans and shovels in a river or stream? That's called gold prospecting!

Gold is a shiny yellow metal that people have been using as money for a very long time. People often search for gold in places where gold is known to exist, such as in rivers or underground.

To start gold prospecting, you need to have the right tools like a gold pan, shovel, and possibly a digging tool. Then you go to a place where there might be gold, such as a river or stream, and find a spot where the water is flowing slowly.

Next, you scoop up some sediment and water from the bottom of the river with your shovel and put it into your gold pan. You shake the pan back and forth in the water, which helps the sediment and small pieces of gold separate from the rest of the material.

Then, you carefully pour out the excess water, keeping the sediment and gold left in the pan. You repeat this process until you have a small amount of sediment and gold left in the pan.

Finally, you carefully swirl the remaining sediment and gold around in the pan until only the heavier bits of gold are left. This is called "panning" for gold.

Gold prospecting can be a lot of work, but it can also be a lot of fun! However, it's important to remember that not everyone who tries gold prospecting will find gold. So, it's always good to have fun and enjoy the outdoor adventure!
