Govardhana matha

Okay kiddo, do you remember the story of Lord Krishna lifting the mountain to protect the people of his village from heavy rain and floods? Well, after this amazing feat, a beautiful temple was built on top of that mountain called Govardhana Hill. And do you know what makes it even more special? There is a matha or monastery called Govardhana Matha right next to it!

Now, a matha is a place where people who love God and want to dedicate their lives to serving him come to live and learn. At Govardhana Matha, people called sannyasis live. Sannyasis are like really cool monks who have given up everything in life to follow God and help others. They stay at Govardhana Matha and spend their time praying, reading holy books, and helping people who come to visit the temple and the mountain.

The Govardhana Matha has been around for a very long time, even before your grandparents were born! It was started by a very wise person named Madhvacharya, who taught people about God and how to live a happy life. He also trained other wise people to continue his work, and that's how the Govardhana Matha has kept going for so many years.
