Government and Binding

Government and binding is a model of language that looks at how we use words in sentences. We need to know what words go together and in what order. The model tries to explain how our brains work so that we can understand which words should be connected and in what order. It's like a set of rules that can help a listener make sense of a sentence. For example, if I say "I have a dog", the words "I" and "have a" need to go together and the words "dog" needs to follow them. Government and binding helps us figure out what should go with what and in what order.
