Gp41

Okay kiddo, so gp41 is a special type of protein that helps the HIV virus enter our cells and start infecting us. Imagine gp41 as a key that unlocks the door to our immune system, which is like a castle that protects us from bad things like germs and viruses.

When the HIV virus first enters our body, gp41 attaches to the surface of our immune cells like a little hook. Then, it uses its other part, called the fusion peptide, to break open the door and get inside our cells. Once inside, HIV starts making copies of itself and slowly weakens our immune system, making it harder for our body to fight off infections and diseases.

But don't worry, scientists are working hard to find ways to block gp41 from doing its job, so we can protect our immune system and stay healthy!
