ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Greco-Bactrian kingdom

OK kiddo, so a long time ago, there was a place called Bactria which is now part of Afghanistan. And there were some people who came over from Greece and they started living there. They were called Greco-Bactrians because they were a mix of Greeks and the people from Bactria.

They built their own kingdom and had their own rulers. They were really good at making art, coins, and buildings that looked like the ones in Greece. They also spoke Greek and worshipped the Greek gods.

The Greco-Bactrians had a lot of trade with other countries, like India and China. They became really rich because they had access to lots of important and rare resources. They traded spices, precious stones, and even elephants!

But then, like all good things, it came to an end when they were invaded by another kingdom called the Kushans. They tried to fight back but they were eventually defeated.

Even though the Greco-Bactrians didn't last long, they left behind a lot of cool things for us to learn about and enjoy!
