Greek Magical Papyri

The Greek Magical Papyri are ancient Greek texts that were written on pieces of paper (called papyri) from around the year 100 A.D. to 400 A.D. These texts include spells and rituals used by the ancient Greeks to make magical things happen, like making something disappear or curing someone of an illness. The Greeks believed that the words in these texts were powerful and could be used to influence the world. For example, a magic spell could be used to bring good luck or even cause harm to an enemy. All of these papyri are written in ancient Greek, so we may never know all of the secrets they contain!
