Greek resistance was a movement of people during World War II who tried to stand up to the German forces that occupied their country. They fought through acts of sabotage, espionage, and bravery to keep the Germans from controlling their country. People organized secret groups and set up hidden bases and shelters to fight against their occupiers. They did things like stealing supplies from the Germans, and setting up secret radio stations to spread news and information to other Greeks and to foreign countries. People from all backgrounds—farmers, doctors, lawyers, and students—came together to protect their freedom.
