Greek divination

Greek divination is when people in ancient Greece tried to predict the future. They did this by talking to special people called oracles or by looking at things like the stars or the guts of animals. They believed that the gods could tell them what was going to happen, so they would ask the oracles questions and hope for an answer that would help them make decisions.

Sometimes they would offer gifts or sacrifices to the gods to try to get better answers. The oracles would then give answers that were sometimes vague or hard to understand. People would then try to interpret these answers to figure out what they meant.

Another way of divination was examining the insides of animals. They believed that the gods would send messages through the animal's organs. They would cut open the animal and then look at its liver, heart, and other organs to try to figure out what the gods were saying.

Overall, Greek divination was a way that people tried to understand the future and seek guidance from the gods. They believed that the gods controlled everything and that by understanding their will, they could make better decisions.
