ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Greek language question

Greek is a language that people in Greece speak. It has its own alphabet, which means they have different letters than we do in English. When people learn Greek, they have to learn how to read and write these letters, too. Greek uses different sounds than English, so the way they say words may sound strange to us. However, it is still a very important language because of Greece's history and contribution to the world.
