Greek mythology in western art and literature

Okay, kiddo, sit down and listen up! Do you know what mythology is? It's kinda like magical stories that people made up a long time ago to explain things that they couldn't understand. And the Greeks had their own set of mythological stories, with characters like Zeus, Athena, and Apollo.

These stories were so interesting and cool that even today, people are inspired by them and use them in their art and literature. So when you see a painting that has a picture of Medusa or some other mythological creature, that's because the artist was using Greek mythology as a reference.

And in books and movies, authors and filmmakers sometimes use Greek mythology too. For example, have you ever read or watched the Percy Jackson series? Those stories are all based on Greek mythology!

So basically, Greek mythology is like a big treasure chest full of ideas and characters that people can use to make their own art and stories. It's been around for a really long time, and it still inspires people today. Pretty cool, huh?
