Sweetie, a long time ago there were some people called Greeks who lived in a country called Russia and then later on in another country called the Soviet Union. They had their own language, culture, and traditions that were different from the people around them.
At first, things were okay for the Greeks in Russia. They were able to live their lives and practice their customs without any problems. But later on, the government in Russia changed and started treating the Greeks differently. They were told they had to speak Russian and follow Russian customs instead of their own.
Despite this, the Greeks in Russia tried to keep their traditions alive as much as they could. They had schools where they could teach their language and share stories about their history. And when the Soviet Union came around, they were given more rights to practice their religion and culture.
However, things got really tough for the Greeks in the Soviet Union during World War II. You see, the Soviet Union was at war with Germany, and the Greeks were seen as allies of Germany. This meant that many of them were sent to prison or work camps, and some were even killed.
But even with all of these challenges, the Greeks in Russia and the Soviet Union held on to their culture and traditions. Today, there are still Greeks living in Russia and the former Soviet Union, and they continue to celebrate their rich heritage and history.
