ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Group of units

Okay kiddo, a group of units is like a team of superheroes who work together to fight the bad guys. In math, a unit is a number that represents one thing, like 1 apple or 1 toy. When we put a bunch of units together, we can have a group of units.

Just like how the superheroes in a team have to work together and follow certain rules, a group of units also has rules or properties it has to follow. For example, the units have to be able to combine together (like adding 2 toys to 3 toys to make 5 toys) without changing the number of units in the group.

In math, we use the term "group" to mean a set of objects that follow certain rules, just like how a team has rules they have to follow to work together. These rules for groups of units are important in many areas of math, from basic addition and multiplication to more advanced topics like group theory.
