Guided ray

Okay kiddo, do you know what a ray is? It's like a line that starts at one point and keeps going forever in one direction. Well, a guided ray is like a ray of light that is going through something and is guided in a certain path.

It's like when you play with a laser pointer and see the red dot on the wall. The laser is the guided ray and it is being guided through the air until it hits the wall. But guided rays can also go through things like fiber optic cables.

Inside the cable is a thin thread of glass or plastic and the guided ray bounces off the sides of the thread and follows it all the way to the other end of the cable. This helps send information really fast over long distances.

So, a guided ray is a special kind of ray that is being guided in a certain path by something it is moving through. Cool, huh?
