Gurukula

Gurukula is an Indian system of education that was used in ancient times. It was a type of school where a student would live with a teacher or guru, and learn from them in a very close and personal way.

Imagine you are a student who wants to learn math, but instead of going to a big school with lots of other students, you would live with your math teacher in a small house or even in the forest. Your teacher would be your guide, your mentor, and your friend. They would teach you all about math, but also about life and the world around you.

In a Gurukula, the teacher would also provide food and shelter for the student, and in return, the student would help with chores and tasks around the house. This helped create a strong bond between the teacher and the student, almost like a family.

Gurukulas were also known for teaching important values such as discipline, respect, and responsibility. The students would wake up early in the morning for their studies and would have to follow a strict daily routine.

Although Gurukulas are not as common nowadays, they continue to be an important part of Indian culture and history. Many modern schools and universities in India follow a similar philosophy of close teacher-student relationships and holistic learning.
