ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Guy-wire

Guy-wires are like big ropes that help hold up really tall things like poles or towers. Imagine if you were building a really tall tower out of blocks. If you stacked a lot of blocks on top of each other, the tower might wobble or fall over. That's why you might need to use guy-wires to help keep it steady.

Guy-wires work by stretching from the tower to the ground and holding it in place, like a person putting their arms out to balance. The guy-wires are attached to the tower at the top and to the ground at the bottom. By pulling on the guy-wires, they can help stop the tower from wobbling or falling over. Guy-wires are often made out of strong materials like steel or high-strength synthetic fibers.

So, next time you see a really tall tower or pole and wonder how it stays up, just think of the guy-wires as big, strong ropes that help hold everything in place.
